Katja Portz

As an expert in corporate succession, family constitution, advisory boards and governance, Katja Portz has been advising entrepreneurial families since 2017. After studying economics at the University of Bayreuth, she completed her doctorate at the Chair of International Management on the topic of “Corporate Social Responsibility in M&A Transactions” and worked for several years as an assistant to the CEO of PwC Germany.

Following this activity, she worked at PwC Family Governance Consulting as an owner strategy consultant and specialised in the accompaniment of succession processes, the development of family constitutions and the conception of supervisory and advisory boards in family businesses. She worked closely with the INTES Academy for Family Businesses, among other things as a speaker or in the training of advisory board members.

As daughter of a non-family board member in family businesses, Katja Portz took an early look at family businesses from the outside. This helped her to develop a thorough understanding for experienced personalities who shape family business in close cooperation with the owner family and showed her how vital it is that stakeholders act in concert.

Katja Portz joined PETER MAY Family Business Consulting as a junior partner in January 2021.

Her guiding principle is: “Every family business is different because the owner families behind it are unique. That's why it takes both experience and creativity to help families achieve sustainable results and build trust.”
