Maximilian Werkmüller advises business families on asset structuring and asset succession and is considered a recognized expert in foundation law and family office management.
Following his legal training in Trier, Bonn and Münster, he initially worked as a legal advisor on inheritance and foundation issues for a renowned private bank in Düsseldorf. In 2011, he heeded the call of an international business family that asked him to lead its German single-family office. He has been working as a lawyer since 2015. In 2019, he joined the Düsseldorf law firm SSP-LAW as an of counsel.
Maximilian Werkmüller is the editor and co-author of a standard reference on matters of family office management, now in its fourth edition, and lectures on private financial planning, asset succession and family office management at Allensbach University in Konstanz as a full professor on the Finance master program. He is also the managing editor of Private Finance Praktiker, a trade journal published by Finanz Colloquium Heidelberg, which is particularly aimed at business owners of medium-sized companies.
He has been applying his knowledge and experience, especially in the field of family office management, as a partner with PETER MAY Family Business Consulting as well since 2020.
